Family makes Christmas special

I can’t believe Christmas is only a few weeks away and I haven’t done any shopping. For some reason, I have had a tough time getting into the spirit of the season. This past Sunday my son Brad, his wife Miranda and my two granddaughters, Emma and Ava, came over to help decorate the house. My other son, Brian, and his wife, Kim, stopped by and shoveled the driveway and sidewalk. That is why I feel so strongly about family. They are always there for us when we need them, and we really appreciate that.

 

Another bright spot is when my oldest grandson, Trevor, and his girlfriend, Tristen, stopped by to tell us they had become engaged. Tristen showed us the ring and Trevor’s grandma said she would have to rest her arm after carrying that heavy ring around. This topped off a really special day.

 

My brother-in-law, Lynn, stopped by for a while and he asked Trevor if he had seen many pheasants and he said there were a lot of them in the area. That means that there will be a good count for future years if we don’t have a hard winter.

 

I have heard that deer were a little hard to find this year. I guess that would depend on the area you were hunting. Hunting is just like fishing; it's the luck of the draw. You can get the right time and still not catch anything.

 

I'm looking forward to Christmas with our family this year. We will be going out to my sister Judy’s house to make lefse next week. That's always a good time and both my boys and their families participate.
