Another few days at the cabin

This past I was able to enjoy a few days with Brian and my grandson Trevor at Two Harbors. We fished on Lake Superior for two days and caught some lake trout. It was a great time spent with my son and grandson. On Tuesday Brian and I headed to the cabin while Trevor headed home.

 

Once we arrived at the cabin, we unpacked and were able to relax. Well, actually I relaxed while Brian found some things to do. When you own a cabin, there are always things to work on and Brian enjoys doing that. He did a lot of finish work on the inside of the cabin in a few days.

 

We had wanted to fish Spider Lake one day and we woke up early on Thursday, ate breakfast and headed for the lake. Spider is about a 40-minute drive to the lake from our cabin. As we pulled into the access, Brian walked down to the dock and checked the access. He said the lake was pretty low, so I watched the end of the ramp as he backed in and sure enough, we couldn’t launch the boat without falling off of the end of the ramp. After contemplating our next move, we decided not to risk it and headed for a different lake.

 

We decided to fish Big Too Much lake, which is near our cabin, and, even though the lake was also down, we were able to launch the boat. We caught a few fish that day and had a great time. And catching fish was a bonus.

 

Brian started a campfire again that night and burned up all of the scrap wood that we had left. I was pretty beat that evening, so I sat in the cabin in my easy chair, watching the campfire through the deck door, enjoying the nice breeze that was flowing through the cabin while listening to classic rock on the radio. It just can’t get more relaxing than that. 

 

Until next time: With the cooler weather that we are experiencing now, there is opportunity to enjoy time outdoors. I have often said that I enjoy watching wildlife in its natural environment. There are many parks and trails in our area to be enjoyed, whether biking, or walking on a trail in town or at the state park. We have many county parks in the area, along with WMA’s Wildlife Management Areas that are all open to the public.

 

Please take the time to remember our troops that are serving now and those that have served before them. They are the reason that we have all of the Freedoms that we enjoy today.
