Jeanne Lageson

Jeanne M. Lageson, 97, died peacefully on July 17, 2025, in Apple Valley, MN.  Jeanne was born on November 30, 1927, in Minneapolis, MN, to Thorwald Amanderkrog Foxvog and Myrtle Esther Jacobsen.  Her family later moved to Chicago, where Jeanne attended Taft High School and North Park College.  She would later return to MN and transfer to St. Olaf College, where she majored in English and History, with teaching as her goal. 

 

Jeanne met her husband, Sivert “Steve” Olson while on a blind date in her junior year at St. Olaf, and they married on June 11, 1950. Son, Peter, then came along … and a couple years later, daughter Martha followed. Jeanne followed her desire to teach … starting in Alden, then Mankato, and finally New Richland, where Peter & Martha graduated from HS and Jeanne retired.

 

Steve passed in August of 1982 … and a couple years later, Jeanne married an old friend, Carlyle “Collie” Lageson.  Jeanne was very blessed to have had two wonderful husbands.

 

Jeanne and Collie enjoyed traveling … from RV trips and Elderhostels to overseas adventures.  They also loved their many years wintering in Arizona with family and friends, as cold Minnesota winters were no longer their style.

 

Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce (Foxvog) Helland; brother, Dan Foxvog; niece, Carol (Helland) Williams; husband, Steve Olson; and husband, Collie Lageson. 

 

Jeanne leaves behind son, Peter (Trysh) Olson; grandson, Taylor Olson; granddaughter, Lexi Olson; daughter, Martha (Courtney) Brown; grandson, Casey Brown; great-granddaughter, Phoebe Brown; grandson, Isaac Brown; granddaughter, Mariah Brown.

 

Many of you know that Jeanne loved the color blue ... from coffee cups to clothes to her Norwegian figurines.  We as family, will be wearing blue on her celebration day; we encourage you to do the same!

 

Services were held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea, 301 W. Clark Street.  Visitation at 10 am; service at 11 a.m.

 

Donations given in Jeanne’s memory will go to Youth for Christ of Albert Lea.
