Bonnie Engel

Bonnie Mae Addie Engel, 83, of New Richland, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025 at the New Richland Care Center, in New Richland, MN. 

 

Born on December 6, 1942 in New Richland, MN, she was a daughter of the late George and Adelheid (Pick) Engel. A graduate of Freeborn High School, Bonnie grew up in Freeborn and worked alongside her parents on the family farm until their retirement and passing away. Known for her strong work ethic, Bonnie also worked at Bird’s Eye in Waseca, MN during the corn pack, and the New Richland Care Center for nearly 25 years. Later, she worked at the bakery in New Richland before retiring fully.

 

Bonnie is survived by her sister Beverly Schmidt of Albert Lea, MN; and her brother, Russell “Pike” Engel of Freeborn, MN; as well as several nieces and one nephew.

 

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Adelheid Engel; her brothers, Cleon and Gene Engel; her sister, Donna Lou (Kemmits); her sisters-in-law, Elaine Engel and Darlene Engel; as well as her brother-in-law, Paul Schmidt.

 

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland, with a visitation that began one hour prior to the service. Burial was at St. Olaf Cemetery in New Richland.
