Chip is always the voice of a good day

Murphy's Law is an observation that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. I don't know what you would call the opposite, maybe “a good day.” In English here are just a few of what I call “a good day”:

When you stop at McDonald's in Garrison, Minnesota for a break and place your order with an employee named Chip. Chip is always a voice of a good day personality.

When the wife of one of the six Freeborn Mower Electrical Lineworkeres sent to Florida to help in clean-up after the storm described her thoughts by saying, “It was a timely opportunity to talk to our boys about their BP going to serve those communities who needed Pop’s skills more than they were needed at home.”

When the happy Valentine's day youth give me a Valentine card stating “So faith, hope, love remain, these three; But the greatest of these is love.” (They left it in my mailbox at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church Rural Albert Lea.)

The feeling of those in Attendance at the Annual Albert Lea all Service Clubs Christmas Luncheon at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea was most certainly a “Good day.” The printed summary of the event was “Thank you for your service to our community and the world, in a Christmas cookie life, you're the icing.”

When I read the farmers Almanac for 2025 stating: “Eating any ring-shaped treat - such as the donut you're having with your morning coffee is a day leading to good fortune.”

When I see a proud youngster helping mom grocery shop with a sign on a small grocery cart stating “Customer in training.”

When I attend a Veterans day service on November 11th and a person in a wheelchair wearing a Veterans Cap hands me a small card stating:

For everything there is a season.

A time for War and a time for Peace.

A time for every activity under heaven.

For a season of life you gave up freedom to become a servant.

For a season of life you put the lives of others before your own.

For a season of life you sacrificed for the sake of others.

Your season of Military service has been complete,

Yet your life in Christ knows No End.

What is Genie's ideal good day? When I'm up and done with breakfast by 9 a.m. A meal out plus volunteer work and home mid-afternoon. Do some house work with the evening meal completed by 6:30 p.m. Visit with Bob. Watch the TV evening News till 11 p.m., read a good book with lights out at 11:30 p.m.

P.S. In case you're wondering: A bad day is when the Minnesota Vikings Football Team gets stomped by a score of 31-9!!!
