David Lee Olson

David Lee Olson passed away surrounded by family after a courageous but losing battle with brain cancer On Wed, Oct 9, 2024. Thanks to the love and care of his wife and children, he was able to spend his final months at home with his six dogs in comfort. During those months, he was able to ride his Harley one time, drive to the gas station, camp in the motor home at Paradise, see his purple martins and bee hives, and visit with the many friends and family that he loved so much.

 

David Lee Olson was born on December 27th, 1960 to Clifford and Millie (Granny O) Olson.

 

Although he had two years trade school for heating, ac and refrigeration, he was mostly a self-taught man who took great pride in being able to fix most anything. As his daughter says (while laughing with tears in her eyes), “Jack of all trades and master of all of them; except TVs, phones and computers.” His greatest high in life was fixing the unfixable. His projects were never about the finished product; it was all about the challenge of the journey, which is exactly how he lived his last months, always pushing the boundaries to do the seemingly impossible.  

 

After four years of dating, on March 25th, 1988, he married his wife Allyson Stene. Although their marriage was definitely one of ups and downs, it absolutely ended on a high and just goes to show that not giving up during the lows definitely has its rewards. Their union blessed them with two wonderful children, many dogs over the years, and countless memories, both good and bad.

 

Left to cherish David’s memory are his wife of 36 years, Allyson Olson, his son Derek, daughter Brooke, mother Millie (Johnson) Olson, brother Richard, many cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

 

He is preceded in death by his father Clifford Olson, his grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

 

A celebration of life will be held at some time in the future.
