What does a school superintendent do?

Your voices and concerns are essential, and through this platform, we aim to keep you informed and engaged in the success of our schools. What is the role of the local school board?

 

Public school boards play a vital role in shaping students' educational experience by governing local school districts' operations. Composed of elected community members, school boards set policies, approve budgets, and make decisions that impact curriculum, staffing, and facilities. The administrative teams within the district deal with the day-to-day operations and make recommendations to the board to act upon. They work closely with superintendents to ensure that schools meet the needs of students and adhere to state and federal regulations. While overseeing the operations of the district’s leadership team recommendations, school boards act as a bridge between the community and the schools, ensuring that the voices and concerns of parents, teachers, and residents are heard and addressed.

Working closely with the school board, the superintendent implements policies, manages budgets, and ensures that schools within the district meet educational standards and goals. They oversee all key aspects of the district, including curriculum development, staff hiring, student achievement, and facility management. Their leadership ensures that the district provides a high-quality education in a safe and supportive environment.
