Ellendale Clerk to resign effective Aug. 26

Ellendale City Clerk/Treasurer Kim Zimprich announced her intention to resign her position with the city effective Aug. 26. The news was reported to the Star Eagle Monday evening. A special city council meeting was scheduled for the announcement Wednesday, July 24, 2024. The Star Eagle's latest reporting came as of 5 p.m. Tuesday. 

 

Zimprich, who is in her early 40’s, has served in her current capacity for four years and has been with the city of Ellendale for more than a decade. In the past Zimprich stated this job was meant to be temporary, not a permanent career path. When Covid hit in 2020, Zimprich took on the role of Clerk/Treasurer on the agreement that Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Steve Engel work part time alongside her to help guide the city through the difficult time.

 

The announcement comes on the heels of rising tensions between the city and Daniel Petsinger. Per Engel, multiple representatives for the city of Ellendale stated they do not intend to run for re-election. The filing dates to run for Mayor or City Council are open from July 30 at 8 a.m. until Tuesday August 13 at 5 p.m. Filings are $2 and can be made at the city clerk’s office.
