The big weekend is here, New Richland.

 

Farm & City Days, the annual celebration that seems to swell the population of the town by several hundred, runs Friday through Sunday, July 5-7. The parade is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, followed by a street dance from 8 p.m. to midnight on Broadway.

 

The weekend starts Friday as the Lions Club serves baked potatoes and root beer floats from 4:30-6:30 Friday at City Hall. At 6:30 p.m. the Commercial Club will host bingo at Broadway St, Dance Area. $10 for 10 games. A bean bag tournament on Broadway and NR Liquor starts at 6 p.m. for teens and 7 p.m. for adults.

 

Saturday starts bright and early with the annual fire department pancake breakfast from 7-10 a.m., where the grand marshal of the parade will be announced. As usual, Jim Kozan will provide entertainment.

 

Saturday is packed with events, highlighted by the parade at 5 p.m.

 

A tradition, the Top 25 Antique Car and Tractor Show, is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Broadway and 1st St. NW.

 

There are many events this year, including:

 

7 a.m. - 10 a.m. St. Peter Lutheran Church bake sale at NR Fire hall.

 

8 a.m. NR Ambulance Cow Fun Run at the high school

 

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Classic Car Show

 

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Top 25 Antique Tractor Show on Broadway

 

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friends of the library book sale at the library from 9 a.m. to noon.

 

9 a.m. 3 person golf tournament at Riverview Golf Course

 

9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cow pie bingo at Neighbor’s Meats

 

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Paint a rock on S. Broadway

 

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Plant a seed on S. Broadway

 

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. NR Area Historical society display

 

10:30 a.m. Kiddie Parade at Care Center, free pizza on stage in city park

 

10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. KID ZONE at city park including bounce houses, concessions, petting zoo and mini golf.

 

11 a.m. Speaker Sherly Baker at NR Area Food Shelf building

 

11 a.m. Caricatures by Casey on S. Broadway

 

Noon to 3 p.m. Dunk tank on S. Broadway

 

1 p.m. St. Olaf Brewing company tasting

2 p.m. Adult blow up races at city park

 

2:30 p.m. Kid power pedal tractor pull ages 4-11

 

8 p.m. until midnight Street dance featuring Top Shelf Band

 

On Sunday winning button numbers are drawn following a community worship at the park at 10 a.m. Water wars is set for noon. Bingo is the final event at 1 p.m.

 

Farm and City Days buttons are $5 and are available at many New Richland businesses. Buttons give you discounted breakfast on Saturday, free admission to the Saturday night street dance and a chance to win prizes up to $200.
