Ellendale High School Class of 1957 reunion

The Ellendale High School Class of 1957 held a reunion of their school graduation at the Geneva Bar & Grill on Saturday, September 12. During the afternoon gathering, the class members, along with their guests, enjoyed some great food, a great deal of reminiscing about their days at EHS, as well as some great conversation about what has been happening in their lives.

 

The 1957 graduating class of 39 students had chosen, “Climb far, your goal the sky, your aim the stars” as their class motto, and Dale Johnson and Lyle Olson were Co-Valedictorians.

 

The Baccalaureate service for the class was held on May 19, 1957 and the Commencement was on May 14, 1957 in the gymnasium that had been added to the school.          

 

Class of 1957 members in attendance for their reunion this year were: Zetty Bailey, Yvonne Brekke, Iris Christensen, Mary Lou Deml, Keith Harty, David Jellum, Jeanette Jensen, Ellen Moiser, David Nelson, Corlyn Paulsen and Melvin Schewe.

 

The class members remembered DuWayne Anderson, Dale Bartness, Kermit Grosland, Marilyn Hanson, Laurel Hendrickson, Dick Jensen, Betty Jiroushek, Shirley Johnson, Janet Kenney, Edith Lund, Duane Olson, Mary Jane Peterson, Stanley Thompson, Michael Waage, Gerry Wagner and Lorena Zeman who are no longer with us.

 

Class members not in attendance for the reunion this year were Lyle Bowen, Sandra Disher, Darryl Flim, Jeanette Grimstead, Dale Johnson, Donald Johnson, Patricia More, Darrell Nelson, Lyle Olson, Ron Thompson, Ovanna Utpadel, and Howard Wayne.

 

The EHS Class of 1957 plans to once again gather for a reunion in 2027 and hope more of their former class members will join them.
