My time on earth has been great

Have you ever asked yourself “Why me, Lord?” and then asked yourself “Why not me, Lord?”

 

On Friday, August 21, I had blood drawn at Mayo clinic in Albert Lea.

 

Genie and I then drove to Perkins in Clear Lake, Iowa to have lunch with her 1st cousins. One from Garner, Iowa (Cheryl), one from Arizona (Claudia), one from Mason City (Doris) and one from Algona (Connie).

 

An interesting thing was the second cousins. For example the great lady basketball player is Audi Crooks from Algona, Iowa. If you follow Girls College basketball you will recognize the name Audi Crooks.

 

Genie and I were on the bus to Lutheran Night at the Twins, sponsored by F.R.O.G. of Central Freeborn Lutheran Church, rural route, Albet Lea. Sad to say the Twins lost. 

 

Singers singing the National Anthem were recognized along with veterans on the bus, plus any person with a birthday. Thus Genie was recognized on the scoreboard along with Central Freeborn Lutheran church.

 

A reminder of the soup and dessert supper on Monday, September 21, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. to benefit the Manchester and Clarks Grove Fire Departments 30 years after Central's fire.

 

This will be held at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church at 74427 - 245th St., Albert Lea. 

 

Along with a video from KAAL TV the night of the fire and the church service the following day. 

 

Back to the opening of this column “Why me, Lord?". I have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and I must ask myself “Why not me, Lord?”

 

With medication it is estimated my life expectancy is three more years. 

 

In summary, my time on earth has been “Great”!!
