You can never have too much tackle, or so I thought

I have seemed to have started my last few columns mentioning the weather and the only comment this time is “HOT.” Enough said!
As I may have mentioned before, I am not a hot weather guy. After spending over three years in southeast Asia, you would think I could handle the heat better. Air conditioning is now my close friend.
I know that I am wasting a lot of fishing time by avoiding the outdoors and the heat, but I hope to make up for it as the summer moves on.
When I visit the next time, I will not take my boat out by myself. I don’t trust my balance, and although I enjoy being out in the boat by myself, cranking the boat on the trailer would probably be my biggest challenge.
When I do get up to the cabin, I know I will feel like I am back in my comfort zone. I want to be on the lake in early morning when the sun comes up. That is actually my favorite part of the day to fish. Getting on the lake as the sun rises over the treetops is probably the best feeling I can have.
When I look at all of the tackle that I have, I don’t know if I have enough time to use it all. I still get excited when I see a new “must have” lure that comes on the market. I have actually convinced myself to walk away when I see one at a bait shop.
Until next time: I definitely want to visit the cabin in a week or two. I need to be there to fill the bird feeders, mow the yard and enjoy some quality time there. If I do fish, I will do some shore fishing.
Please take the time to remember our troops that are serving now and those that have served before them. They are the reason that we have all of the Freedoms that we enjoy today.
