Council community room to open in July

The City of Hartland’s council met the evening of June 1.

Council members discussed matters surrounding the new community room, due to open in July. City staff was asked to contact surrounding communities to find out what rental fees are charged there. That information will be used as a basis to set the cost. The new community room will seat up to 300 people; the plan is to order 10 round tables and 80 chairs to start, with the intention of ordering more when more need is determined.

During the fire department report, fire department member Gage Flatness informed council members a fire hose and two nozzles must be replaced since the items were damaged when accidentally dragged behind a truck. Flatness stated such damage is rare, saying “It’s the second time I’ve seen that happen in 31 years.”

Council members want city residents to be aware animal permits and golf cart licenses are due June 16. Golf cart  registration is $10: Pets are $10 for neutered and $30 for non-neutered.

Council members were informed a new computer that was purchased for use by the city clerk is not able to install the proper Neptune bill pay software; the old computer will be used until this is fixed. The new email for Hartland is cityofhartland@gmail.com. The old email, cityofhartland@deskmedia.com will no longer be valid as of June 10.

The next Hartland city council meeting would usually take place on July 6; however, the council is considering whether one is necessary.
