NRHEG senior Jordan Brouwers recently signed his Letter of Intent to play football with the St. Olaf College Oles beginning in the fall of 2026, signing at the New Richland High School to play football for St. Olaf College. Surrounded by family, friends, and his teammates, this 225-pound athlete signed his future to the Minnesota school.
His mother, Jessica Hanna, was there. After making sure Jordan’s two football jerseys, one black and one white, were hanging in the right spots behind him, she said, “He was accepted on Dec. 7. He received offers from three different schools–Bethel, Gustavus and St. Olaf.” His grandfather, Gary Neil, who was also there, said, “He’s not the first in our family to go to college, but he is the first one of us to go to college to play football. We have other athletes in our family, but he’s pretty remarkable.”
Said NRHEG Activities Director Dan Stork, “In my opinion, from my point of view, you cannot meet a better person than Jordan Brouwers. This kid does it all, two years as a starter. I can tell all of you right now, we are sorry to see him go. I will miss him around here; his experience in the game made playing that much easier, and a great role model for the younger kids playing as well. He’s focused and in the game when he needs to be.”
Dorothy Brouwers, Jordan’s grandmother, accompanied him during a tour of St. Olaf College. “We went up there for a two- to three-hour visit; they had an older, more experienced student help out with our tour. We looked at the dorms and ate lunch in the cafeteria. Toured the whole facility, but it was the coaches that came and showed us the football stuff, like the field and the weight room and training facilities. It was all very interesting, and everyone was very nice.
You could tell they really wanted him.”
Jordan didn’t say much, but among his comments was, “I’ve put in a lot of work these past four years. I’m also an Eagle Scout and I show dogs for 4-H. I love it here in New Richland. I mostly chose St. Olaf, so my family can come and watch my games; being so close makes that easier. The coaches were very nice and I look forward to playing there. I also play in band, and I play basketball and baseball.” Jordan’s GPA is currently 3.5.
St. Olaf College is located in Northfield and has around 3,100 students. The team mascot is the Oles, represented by a costumed lion named Ole.
