Steele County releases request for proposals

Steele County Public Health is seeking proposals from community-based nonprofit organizations to help prevent homelessness in Steele County. Approximately $150,000 is available for the 2026 funding year.

 

Local Homeless Prevention Aid (LHPA) was created by the Minnesota Legislature to help local governments ensure no child is homeless by keeping families from losing housing and helping those experiencing homelessness find housing. 

 

The Steele County Board of Commissioners has approved this funding to be distributed to local nonprofit organizations that provide homelessness prevention services in Steele County. Eligible organizations must meet requirements outlined in Minnesota Statute 477A.30, including plans for targeting families with children and unaccompanied youth, connecting families with social services, and providing rental assistance and/or case management services.

 

Applications must be submitted by Sunday, February 22, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Funding decisions will be announced in March 2026, pending final approval from the Steele County Board of Commissioners.
