Overwhelming generosity

More than 250 people from Waseca County and beyond attended the Feb. 17 benefit for Mike Coy, 71, a lifelong county resident who has been diagnosed with cancer of the liver.
Mike’s wife Cindy says the couple is “overwhelmed” with the generosity of people in attendance who paid free-will donations for food being served at the event, with the liberal bids placed on about 100 different silent auction items, and the purchase of tickets for the 50/50 prize drawing.
When the winning ticket number was drawn at the close of the day, the lucky individual continued the “half and half” theme by donating back about half of his winnings.
Waseca Music Store owner Jim Kozan provided music for the afternoon; the Coys’ son Clifford also performed a few live numbers, including the Chris Young song “Flashlight” and the Waylon Jennings song “Between Fathers and Sons.”
The overwhelming generosity continued on Sunday afternoon when an anonymous individual had a $500 donation delivered to the Coys’ home.
