Wagon Train raises more than $15,000 for Children's

The Waseca County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse proudly delivered a $15,329 donation Nov. 21 to Children’s Minnesota Hospitals, supporting the health care facility’s ongoing mission to provide exceptional pediatric care to families across the state. The funds were raised during the Minnesota Sheriff’s Mounted Posse Association (MSMPA) Wagon Train for Youth, hosted by the Waseca County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse from September 4 to 7, 2025.

 

The MSMPA Wagon Train for Youth is an annual event which brings together mounted posse units, horse-drawn wagons, riders, and supporters from across Minnesota. Over the course of four days, the 2025 Wagon Train traveled scenic routes throughout Waseca County, offering a unique blend of tradition, community, and charitable purpose. Participants camped together, rode daily routes, and held family-friendly activities, all aimed at raising funds for youth-centered causes.

 

This year’s event, planned, coordinated, and hosted by the Waseca County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse, resulted in the largest donation the unit has delivered in recent years. Support poured in from riders, sponsors, local businesses, and community members eager to make a difference.

 

The mounted posse is a volunteer extension of the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office. The group is dedicated to community service, public safety support, and charitable engagement. Members provide assistance in search-and-rescue operations, community events, parades, fundraising initiatives, and disaster response when mounted resources are needed. Their commitment to service extends beyond duty; each year, the Posse participates in statewide charitable efforts such as the Wagon Train for Youth, underscoring their dedication to Minnesota’s children and families.

 

Children’s Minnesota is one of the largest pediatric health systems in the country; it relies on community support to continue providing cutting-edge care, family services, and life-changing treatments. Donations like those from the Wagon Train for Youth help fund numerous services. Donations are used toward child and family support programs, including child life specialists, music therapy, and comfort resources that ease fear and anxiety; advanced pediatric medical equipment, ensuring children receive the highest quality care possible; financial assistance programs for families experiencing hardship during a child’s medical journey; and research and innovation in pediatric treatments that improve outcomes for thousands of children each year.

 

Children’s Minnesota expressed gratitude for the Posse’s ongoing dedication, noting that community partnerships like this directly impact the ability to provide compassionate, specialized care to every child who comes through the doors.
