Wanda's Daycare opens to support Waldorf families

City resident Wanda Hendrickson opened a new business in Waldorf as of Monday, October 13. Mechanics deal in cars, bankers deal in money. Hendrickson, 64, proudly deals in children at “Wanda’s Daycare” where she is ready, willing and able to help with all childcare needs. She says she doesn’t have a slogan, but if she did, “Honesty is a must at Wanda’s; my life is an open book.”

 

She certainly has to admit, “Waseca County does their licensing way faster than they do over in Blue Earth County.” Hendrickson, a new resident to Waldorf, is open for business. “I got the first inspection done and passed,” said Hendrickson, “then the fire inspector came out, then another inspection after a 10 day wait, but we got it all taken care of. I also have one licensed helper standing by as well, who can sit in for me for doctor visits or whatever.”

 

Hendrickson has a sign at the end of the street and another in her yard, and wants everyone to know, “I live at 137 Second Avenue North, Waldorf. If anyone wants to stop by and take a look, they are welcome to, but please call first. My number is 507-382-7441.”

 

She is planning on being open from 6:30 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and wants to assure anyone who works with her during the winter, “You worry about yourself on the road; I got your kids safe here. Unless it’s an emergency, I’m not going anywhere. That gives you plenty of time for driving, whether you’re coming from Mankato, Waseca or Pemberton.” Hendrickson mentions she had originally planned on opening up in Pemberton, but found better accommodation in Waldorf. She says she can work with the Flex Plan or the Child Care Assistance Program. She is C2 Licensed to take as many as 12 children, and babies as young as six weeks old. She can work with whatever pay schedules parents need, and is happy to discuss it.
