Schatz joins music staff

Joining the NRHEG music staff this year is newlywed Josephine Schatz from Montgomery, Minnesota. Schatz obtained her degree in K-12 music education from MSU Mankato and says she went into teaching, because, “I know school is a safe place for students and I want students to know that my classroom is a safe place for them to come. I want students to leave my classroom knowing they are appreciated and always have a place here.”  

 

When asked what led her to apply to NRHEG, answered Schatz, “I grew up in a small school and knew that I wanted to continue my education journey in a small school. I also was excited to teach elementary students. I have spent some time teaching elementary, but it is primarily new and I am so excited!”

 

When not teaching, Schatz and her husband enjoy spending time at the lake and hosting their friends for cookouts or bonfires; she says she could talk on the subject of dogs forever; “We currently don’t have a dog because of the wedding and moving into our house [in Montgomery], but one day we for sure want a dog!”

 

Schatz believes her favorite part of teaching will be the community. “I am excited to meet families and students and get to know them.”
