Phillips seeks Geneva council position

Susan Phillips is a candidate seeking re-election to Geneva City Council. Phillips, retired, is very involved. She has served on the council, the Geneva Township Board, the Southeast Service Cooperative Board and the Freeborn County Planning Commission.

 

What do you consider the most important part of this job?

 

“Understanding you are to do whatever is in the best interest of the citizens that elected you, not what is in your personal interest,” Phillips answered. “We manage the citizens’ money and must be fiscally responsible for those funds.”

 

What particular strengths or experience do you bring to the position that you believe will help you do a good job?

 

“I was finance manager on the SSC Board: Chair of Freeborn County Planning Commission: 25 years, Human Resources Manager for the County; and 6 years on the Geneva City Council,” Phillips continued.

 

What do you feel are the city, county or school districts most important concerns at this time?

“Asset Management Plans are critical to ensure City infrastructure (streets, parks, water tower, sewer ponds, etc,) is kept in good repair, with plans into the future to assure we have the funds to update or replace when necessary,” Phillips concluded.
