New Richland city garden gets upgrade

The New Richland Town and Country Garden Club arranged for some recent improvements at the city garden located along Highway 30 across from the NRHEG Secondary school. The club brought in Rocks and Roots Landscaping from Hartland to find a solution to an ongoing problem–namely that mulch in the garden had begun to shift, frequently ending up on the sidewalk after rains.
Along with that, some of the perennials had become overcrowded and were due to be divided.
According to project coordinator Barb Finseth, club members decided they did not have the equipment and resources to remove the old mulch, reshape the dirt underneath, and then install new surfacing, and so voted to bring in a crew from Rocks and Roots, owned by Dave Wallin.
A recent break in the hot weather made it possible for members of the landscaping team to complete their work in a single day.
