Larry Muff, 63, of New Richland has announced a write-in candidacy for Mayor of New Richland.
After the recent flooding, Muff said he was approached by a New Richland resident saying he spoke for a group of individuals who wanted him to run for Mayor.
“I have been at city council meetings for five years, pounding them,” Muff told the Star Eagle. “They sit back and wait for someone else to fix it.”
After thinking about the request, Muff has started a “write in” candidacy for mayor, since the deadline for filing has passed, asking members of the community to write in his name for Mayor on November 3, 2026.
Muff, currently a candidate for the Waseca County Soil and Water Supervisor District 3 position, says, if elected to both positions, he will resign his position with SWCD to dedicate his time fully to the mayoral position.
“There’s been no sign of leadership there (the city council),” Muff said. “This is not hard to figure out.”
Originally from North Springs, Iowa, Muff has been a New Richland resident since he moved to town in January of '89 for a job at Budach Implement. Muff currently drives semi-truck for BK Trucking out of Waseca.
