Mental Health First Aid class available via United Way

Annette Duncan, president of United Way of Steele County, encourages interested groups and individuals to look into attending the “Mental Health First Aid” course she teaches at a cost of $50 a person. The 8-hour seminar is taught as “blended” instruction–part of the time participants study independently using an online resource, and part of the time features in-person instruction from Duncan. Also included are high-quality printed materials provided by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, and lunch.

 

“The more people we have who learn these techniques,” Duncan observed, “the more people there are who can respond when they see someone experiencing challenges with their mental health.

 

“I think a lot of what’s covered is also really helpful in people’s everyday lives as they interact with others. It’s eye-opening information.”
