Meatball dinner at Community Lutheran Church

The Community Lutheran Church had been buzzing with activity earlier this month as it has been busy preparing for their annual meatball dinner. This year the meatball dinner was held on Sunday, April 19, starting at 11 a.m., following the morning worship service.

 

The meatball dinner takes many hands and people to make it a success. From shopping for groceries, to making the food, making an assortment of desserts, to setting up the tables and chairs, then tearing them back down again, serving the food, waitressing, washing the dishes, along with doing all the other things needed.

 

Once again the menu included their famous homemade meatballs and coleslaw, mashed potatoes, beef gravy, whole kernel corn, dinner rolls, along with a great assortment of pies slices of banana bread and other desserts.

 

For years, Joan Vanden Heuvel would make and donate a quilt for the annual drawing, but following her passing, the church quilters now create a great assortment of quilts and they display them on the pews in the sanctuary for purchase.

 

They do a great job of creating some very interesting quilts, and they were very pleased that many people found a treasure, and purchased it to take along home with them.     

 

It is hoped that those who turned out to support the dinner were able to enjoy more than a great dinner, and were also able to enjoy conversation with many of those in attendance. A big THANK YOU is extended to one and all who helped make this annual event a success.

 

Geneva Community Lutheran was pleased to serve over 200 people this year and hopes to be able to see everyone back again in April of 2027.
