Hundreds attend annual Waldorf event

Some 52 vintage automobiles were entered in the Waldorf Antique Car and Truck Show the afternoon of  Friday, August 23, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Winners included Woody and Lori Underwood who won first prize with their 1969 Pontiac GTO. In second place was Rick Kendall with his 1950 Mercury; taking third was Dale Paulson with his 1963 Chevy Impala. Mayor Rob Wilkening had his own pick, a 1930 Model A Ford, owned by Neal Roesler. 

 

The evening continued with the city Fire and Rescue department’s annual sweet corn and burger feed from 5:30 to 8 p.m. With around 500 people in attendance, the serving line was out the door of the Community Center almost the entire time. For $10, customers could choose a burger or hot dog, sweet corn, potato chips and all the burger fixings.

 

After that was the dance which had a $10 admission fee; those paying for both the meal and the dance received a discounted price of $15. The band playing on August 23 in Waldorf was Red Dirt Road, a national band based out of Mankato. The group’s website says about their music, “Top 40 Country music with great harmonies, killer musicianship, and an arena style light show.” The dance went from 8:30 until midnight.
