Halftime, halfcourt magic at NRHEG

Five NRHEG youths took home 55-inch TVs courtesy of Sorenson Appliance of Geneva during halftime festivities at high school basketball games last week in New Richland.
Devon Parpart, Calvin Nissen, George Roesler, Mack Gilliand and Fynn Baumann all took part in half court shooting competitions.
About a month ago Sorenson’s contacted NRHEG Athletic Director Dan Stork and donated five TVs to the school. The two discussed the idea of a halftime, halfcourt shot for students to raise money for NRHEG Athletics. Money raised will be used for awards and letters distributed during athletic/awards banquets.
Students paid $10 to attempt one shot or $20 for three. In total about $450 was raised.
For Parpart and Nissen, they netted their first shots.
Parpart says he plans to sell the TV to friend, fellow classmate Alden Dobberstein, because, “He needs one.”
Nissen joked his TV might end up in the deer stand or an ice house.
Roesler proudly stated his TV will be for his dorm room at MSU Mankato, which he intends to attend next year.
