FACS kitchen has a new face

The Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) kitchen in the high school has a new face this year; Calle Chartrand recently moved from the Twin Cities to Ellendale (along with her mini goldendoodle named Daisy and a charcoal Lab named Gunner) to take the position of departed teacher Kelly Delacruz.

 

Chartrand obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth in Health and Physical Education, and attended the University Wisconsin Superior where she obtained her Master’s in Educational Administration. “I have wanted to be a teacher since I was six years old,” she says. “My first grade teacher was amazing and the reason I am an educator today.” Chartrand served as a physical education specialist in St. Paul Public Schools before coming to NRHEG.

 

“Watching my students evolve into their own unique selves over the years,” is what Chartrand names as her favorite part of being a teacher. She goes on to say, “Seeing and witnessing all of the amazing things our students accomplish in school, the community, and after they leave our doors is truly incredible and so rewarding.”

 

Outside of school, Chartrand says she can be found digging in the garden or planting flowers. “I am very active and love to work out, and also play hockey and softball. I enjoy being at our family lake place, fishing, and floating on my boat.”
