Council names Star Eagle as official paper

During their first meeting of the year on Monday, Jan. 5, members of the Hartland city council took care of organizational matters for 2026. This included designating numerous important individuals and organizations.

 

The city bank will be Arcadia Bank. The city’s official newspaper for public notices will be the NRHEG Star Eagle. The city attorney is Peterson, Korker, Haedt & Benda Ltd. of Albert Lea. Insurance is Heartman Insurance. Treasurer is ARO Accounting of Hartland. Board members were also assigned as liaisons to various departments. Matt Eustice will serve in the role of mayor. Kyle Reed will focus on city maintenance, including water, sewer and street. Kelly Routh will interface with the fire department and Lori Routh will work with zoning and planning. 

 

It was shared that the fire department will present the city with a donation from the gambling fund for their year-end donation in January; this will go toward the fire fund. The fire department didn’t have any billable calls this past month. Two new water meters have been ordered to replace two inoperative units.

 

For public comment, Jan Kalbow wanted to say, “I’d like to comment on Santa’s visit over Christmas. He was fantastic and we don’t have exact numbers, but we received a ‘Pleasing sized crowd’ and Judy did a great job.” Kalbow also wanted to remind all elderly residents of Hartland, “We are putting on an exercising program for those who need to get out and do a workout. We meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m. You don’t need to bring anything but yourselves. This is mostly for the older residents, but anyone can attend.”
