Board plans, organizes for 2024

At their January 2 organizational meeting and work session, NRHEG school board members elected to retain the same officers as during 2023: Rick Schultz as chair, Loren Schoenrock as vice chair, Terri Engel as clerk, Pat Theuer as treasurer. All board members accepted various committee assignments, including negotiations, finance, buildings and grounds, policy, and transportation.

 

Board members elected to maintain 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday of the month as their typical meeting date, defaulting to the third Tuesday if a holiday interferes. A full schedule appears at the end of this article.

 

The NRHEG Star Eagle remains the official newspaper for important legal announcements.

The school board has seven members. Among them, three have terms expiring in 2024: Loren Schoenrock, Terri Engel and Rich Mueller. The remainder, Rick Schultz, Pat Theuer, Aaron Phillips, and Amy Ihrke, have terms which end in 2026.

 

Also as part of the January 2 work session, board members looked into the possibility of using a service called “Possip” to carry out surveys and other communications with all groups connected with the school, including staff, students, and family of students. After a presentation from the company and having questions answered by a representative, board member Aaron Phillips commented that using the service might strengthen the level of engagement people feel with the school. No official action was taken on the matter, since everything after the organizational meeting that evening was part of a work session.

 

Monthly meetings in 2024 are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, Elementary Media Center; 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, Secondary Media Center; 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 18, Elementary Media Center; 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 15, Secondary Media Center; 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 20, Elementary Media Center; 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 17, Secondary Media Center; 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 15, Secondary Media Center; 6:30 p.m. Monday, August 19, Secondary Media Center; 6:30 p.m. Monday, September 16, Elementary Media Center; 6:30 p.m. Monday, October 21, Secondary Media Center; 6:30 p.m. Monday, November 18, Elementary Media Center; 6:30 p.m. Monday, December 16, Secondary Media Center.  Additional meetings will be scheduled as needed.
