Analyzing the first quarter NRHEG mock crash

I will be writing about the mock crash that we had at school last week. Last Friday, our school had the fire department and two ambulances come to do the mock crash for us. The New Richland Fire Department came here along with the ambulance. The Ellendale ambulance also came to help show us. There were plenty of professional people here to make it look as real as they could make it. The whole school watched this crash and I think many people enjoyed it. We had this mock crash to try and get people to open their eyes to what can really happen while driving. If people didn’t know what could happen, now hopefully they do. Distracted driving is a real thing and maybe people take part in it. Picking up your phone for even two seconds can cause you or someone else to get hurt. We ran a 2-hour early dismissal schedule on that Friday so we would have plenty of time to watch it all. We walked over across the street and had to stand behind caution tape to watch it all. If you were in front you got to see it all from a good view. We had people taking pictures of it all to remember it and to show other people what can happen. They came down the street with their sirens on and everything. To get the people out of the car, they had to get them on a stretcher. To do this, they had to make sure they talked to them first, to see if they were alive and if they could move. If they could, they carefully lifted them onto the stretcher and put them into the ambulance. The other week, we had some other people come into our school to talk about distracted driving because we are new drivers this year. They told us some of their stories and the excuses people would have for speeding. The excuses people have for speeding don’t get them out of it because it is dangerous and can put someone else in high danger. There are laws about all of this for a reason and that’s what happens when people choose not to follow them. I think it was good that we had the mock crash and the other people came to talk to us because that’s two great sources we have to hopefully influence us on what can happen.
