Addy Stadheim of NRHEG soon to be an 'Auggie'

NRHEG senior Addy Stadheim signed a letter of intent on March 20 to join the volleyball program at Augsburg University in Minneapolis. Her new coach will be Jay Kam.  

 

A large group of teammates, classmates, and family members filled the room and cheered Addy on as she put pen to paper. Addy’s mother, Linda, listed family members in attendance, including father, Darrin, and sister Emmy. Present in spirit was her sister Izzy. Linda shared that Addy names Darrin as her hero, since he managed to survive in a household consisting of himself and four females.

 

NRHEG Activities Director Dan Stord said, as he introduced Addy, “We want to thank everyone for being here. Addy’s been playing since she was first able to. She’s also played for Northern Lights Junior Volleyball and she’s gone everywhere playing for NRHEG.” He also took a moment to remind potential spectators, “These games haven’t been that far away from here; if you can make it to a game, it’s always nice to have locals in the stands.”

 

Besides volleyball, Addy is also involved in softball, student council, DECA, NHS and FCA. The Steele County Times said about her playing in 2025, “Stadheim’s efforts have been crucial in helping NRHEG build a 16-5-1 record.”

 

She received offers from four different colleges. Said Addy, “We went up to Bethel, Bethany and St. Olaf but I ended up going with Augsburg.” Linda said, “We took a tour of all the facilities, the head coach Jay Kam sent us off with a few of the players. We went up there in December, had a really good time and got to speak more with the coach afterward.”

 

Augsburg University is located in Minneapolis. The mascot Addy will be playing under is the Augsburg Eagle. As a team member, she’ll be referred to as an “Auggie.” Augsburg was founded in 1869 and has around 3,100 students.
