‘Don’t feel bad; she has me confused all the time’

It is time for another running of the words column.

 

A. Something to think about: “Where you live-live.” In other words, get involved in your area. Don't just bitch about what you don't like.

 

B. A good description of the rainy spring early summer of 2024. “It rained in between showers.”

 

C. When Central Freeborn Lutheran Church burned to the ground November 2, 1996, the church bell was saved and can be seen just west of the church. An interesting thing is the bell was struck in 1888 without a crack in it. Just like the Liberty Bell. The bell at Central now has a crack in it!!!

 

D. We have a nuthatch bird as a regular at our bird feeder. An unusual thing is the bird is almost a true albino, especially the head, neck and back are all white.

 

E. Bullets can be bought in grocery stores in Alabama, Oklahoma and Texas from vending machines.

 

F. A dryer sheet put in your mailbox will reduce the number of earwigs in your mailbox.

 

G. A male bunny rabbit arrives about 7:30 a.m., crawls inside our hedge, cleans and falls asleep until about 4 p.m. At that time, he starts the night shift and plays and prowls till his return about 7:30 a.m. He then rests til about 4 p.m. I have labeled him a “Carouser.”

 

H. Think about all the dealings as a customer you’ve had with employers of some business. Many times you’ve walked away with the feeling they don't want customers.

 

Two sisters at Taco Johns in Albert Lea were just the opposite, They gave you the feeling that you as a customer were most appreciated.

 

I’m referring to them as the S and S sisters as I had trouble knowing which one was treating me as a valued customer. They even trick or treat us at our house on Halloween. After about four years of their great customer service, I feel some emotion as they have moved on to different employers.

 

I. Karen, our Church Secretary, is a lady of many talents. Confusing old Norwegians is one of them. For example when she said of herself, “I’m back to normal.” I mentioned to hubby Wayne my being confused. His reply, “Don't feel bad; she has me confused all the time!!”

 

J. Albert Lea Lake and Fountain Lake in Albert Lea were in the Minnesota weekly outdoor news on 08-2-24. The article was interesting, but not a guy's fishing destination.

 

K. True or false:

 

1. If you know where to look, you can see a moose in the grocery store in New Richland.

 

2. There is a Salt Lake in Minnesota.

 

3. Avenues in Ellendale city limits run North and South.

 

4. Avenues in New Richland run North to South.

 

5. The City of Faribault is in Faribault County.

 

6. The person who set this column up before going to press is the newest employee of The Star Eagle newspaper.

 

7. The sun in New Richland rises seven minutes later than in Ellendale.

 

8. Hartland, Minnesota has a Senior Center.

 

9. Hope, Minnesota was named after Bob Hope.

 

10. Star Eagle newspaper is the name of the two newspapers merging.

Reader, if you said the odd numbers were false and even numbers were true, you were right!!
